Washington Silver Quarter
This type will probably be the first silver quarter you will find when
you start detecting.
But how much longer will we even be seeing the clad ones in circulation
with all the new state quarters coming out?
History
This type was intended to be a commemorative issue marking the 200th anniversary of Washington's birth. John Flannagan, a New York sculptor, was the designer. The initials JF are found at the base of the neck. Mint mark is on the reverse below the wreath. Minted from 1932 to 1964. The most valuable being a 1932d.
