Old Clay Pipes
According to historians, pipes were not used before the 17th century. It is in America that we can find the oldest pipes. and the American Indians were the real ancestrals of the modern smokers of the pipe.
When we first started finding the stems, we didn't know what they were till we went to a club meeting with our finds. Then after finding out they were clay pipe pieces, we purposely looked for them. Now we have a bowl too.
We were wondering why they were broken all the time, and after some research, found out the user broke them on purpose. They would smoke them, and after the end got too used or clogged up, they would snap it off.
